Okay, some of the brands featured here are going to be on the costly side, but while researching this particular topic it became clear that you do not have to break the bank to go for dripping juice; not even organic, natural e liquid.
Several companies bring the best to their customers at low prices or at least less than companies which can’t make lofty promises about organic or all-natural ingredients. While some vendors will talk you into believing really great e juice full of vegetable glycerin (VG) is naturally expensive, I’m here to tell you that’s bologna.
Top 10 High-VG E Juice Brands
You can spend a little, spend a lot, or mix and match while still saving money. Some of these brands are carried by subscription companies too, so you might wind up trying a variety by accident for even less money. You might say “it’s worthwhile spending 80 cents per/ml to have someone come up with those heavenly mixtures: I could never do that myself.”
Perhaps you could, but it’s not practical to buy the equipment or you don’t want to go to that kind of trouble. There is a convenience factor to consider. The top brands on my list are Helios, High Voltage, KILO, The Schwartz, Johnson Creek, FA-Q, Velvet Vapors, Virgin Vaper, Kind, and Velvet Cloud. They are all American-made e liquids, most based in California which is a hub of e juice and vaping culture. Pay no attention to the order: it’s just a way to organize them.
1. Helios Vapor
Using local ingredients, this young firm from Southern California makes only five blends at the present time. They try to use natural and organic products wherever possible and do not add anything artificial like colorants or sweeteners. VG content is 70% or more. Try Black (citrus and berries), Carmine (melon and other fruits), Amber (banana cream), Helios Gold (summer fruits), or Meteor (sweet tobacco, caramel, and vanilla).
2. High Voltage
I like this one because of unique elements you aren’t necessarily searching for in e juice but which make the resulting product more fun. High Voltage is made with caffeine and B-Vitamins (or Melatonin in the case of “Lights Out” raspberry-chai e juice). Flavors like Diode (creamy orange-peach), Resistor (caramel espresso), and Tesla (kiwi dragon fruit) reflect America’s love of fruit smoothies, seaside ice cream treats, and sweet coffee. VG is 70%.
All of the flavors from award-winning KILO vapor (just 4) are creamy. You find that high-VG e liquids are on the dense side and favor cream, fruits, or both. Kibery (kiwi/strawberry), Tru Blue (blueberry custard), Cereal Milk, and Dewberry (honeydew) Cream are hand-crafted and suitable for dripping atomizers.
4. Red Oak by Johnson Creek
Here’s one of those anomalous inclusions in the high-VG list: a company from Wisconsin. Johnson Creek is also the oldest and biggest e juice company in America according to their website, although the Red Oak line doesn’t date that far back. Their juices contain a maximum of 1.2% nicotine and come in sweet styles like Coastalime and Broadberry (strawberry cheesecake). Johnson Creek operates out of an ISO9001:2008 facility.
5. The Schwartz
We are back on warm sand with this yogurt-based e juice (yogurt flavors, but no actual yogurt in the liquid.) Each one puts a different spin on the idea: frozen yogurt, tangy Greek, light yogurt, etc. Names, logo – their very inspiration — comes from Mel Brooks’ comedy Space Balls (remember Rick Moranis’ character Darth Helmet?) Upside blends strawberry and yogurt while Downside is tart blueberry style. Comb the Desert whips up a hazelnut, peanut butter alternative to ice cream (frozen yogurt), and rich-tasting Ludicrous Speed carries hints of honey.
Though I’m not a fan of rude word play, Apollo makes a good product. Consumers can go straight to the FA-Q site if they don’t want to browse Apollo products and they will find the same assurances: a proper clean room, USP-grade ingredients, supervision from chemists, and 70% to 80% VG. Flavors like American Pie and Green Party taste like apples, each taking a different approach. Fauxtess Cupcakes mimics a favorite baked treat while Pink Nova is sweet and tart strawberry taffy.
7. Velvet Vapors
I’m impressed with pricing at Velvet Vapor where customers decide if they want natural, organic, and/or propylene glycol (PG)-free e juice. Organic and/or natural flavors in the PG-free line include butterscotch, English toffee, Bananas Foster, and green apple. Velvet Vapors is located in Tucson, Arizona.
8. Virgin Vapor
Don’t confuse Velvet Vapors with Virgin Vapor although both companies offer high-quality e liquid. Virgin Vapor of Lakeport, CA, is an award-winning brand led by Annette Rogers. Her flavors contain the purest possible ingredients, USP and organic VG, and USP/Kosher nicotine (where required). Choose 50/50 or all-VG but narrow down your search to include just drinks, sweets, savory items, etc. in order to make the search easier. Kona Coffee, Lemon Rosewater, and Peanut Butter Banana Sandwich are some of their more unusual offerings.
9. Kind E Juice
The ladies at Kind of Florida were seeking a return to natural, healthy lifestyle choices which started with giving up cigarettes. When they got started, vapers were expressing concern about PG. At this point, most people have come to realize that PG is found in many products they consume regularly, but not individuals going truly green. These consumers won’t ingest anything that can’t be certified organic, non-GMO, pesticide-free, and eschew products containing lab-devised ingredients. Their e juices include 5 O’Clock Somewhere (ginger, cola, sasparilla, and lime), Key West Sunset (candied peach), Route 66 Tobacco, and Granny Tart Smith.
10. Velvet Cloud E-Liquid
These girls from San Francisco have been online for longer than most. They make high VG e juice locally using mostly vegetable glycerin and natural, organic ingredients when possible. Their flavors include Thorangine orange/tangerine/cream, Night Shift donut and coffee, Azect Mewlew (Mexican-style spicy cocoa), and Nutty Cookie. One of the ladies draws images for each flavor, blended in small batches each time for freshness and to control flavors fully. Her images are childlike and fun while pricing is surprisingly low for such a high-quality product.
